VB: Charlotte 49ers V. Tulsa Hurricanes

The Charlotte 49ers played Oct 18 against Conference USA rival Tulsa Golden Hurricanes in the annual dig pink event. The first set was an even match with Tulsa pulling ahead for a 25-21 victory. Tulsa's Bohannon rose to the occasion with 5 kills and 12 attacks.
The second set had all the excitement. Charlotte's Cannon and Kreuz had a combined 10 kills and 20 attacks. The set went to a thrilling 28-26 49er victory.

By the numbers the third set was close, even a little bit in favor for Charlotte. Even with libero Hovey's impressive 5 digs, Tulsa was able to win decisively with 25-20 putting them at 2 sets to 1.

The final set had some controversy when a Tulsa blocker reached over the net at the second hit and was awarded a point instead of a penalty. This call likely made little difference as Tulsa won 25-17.

The Niners are 10-12 for the season and host Middle Tennessee on Sunday Oct 20, 2013 @ 1pm.
