The goal is to design and build a candy corn pumpkin chucker out of items commonly found in an office environment. The rules are as follows:
Imagine a post-apocalyptic scenario. You are stuck at work and in order to survive you must get a candy corn pumpkin from here to as far over there as you can. The streets are overrun with angry, hostile creatures that may have once been human, to avoid them you may not leave to complete this task.
- The supplies used to build the device must be found in a common office environment. (e.g. If you have to be in the Tippmann office so you have access to a paintball marker you are breaking the rules.)
- The candy pumpkin shall be of standard weight and size. Pumpkins are not to be altered in any way. “Mutant' candies are ineligible.
- Suggested design types:
- Air
- Centrifugal
- Catapult
- Trebuchet
- Powered
- Torsion
- Explosive
- No portion of the device be across the firing line at start.
- All devices must be able to fire within ten (10) minutes. Each device will have 3 opportunities to shoot. Upon a successful shot, only one additional attempt may be made.
- If a spotter is located down field, and the pumpkin strikes the spotter, the attempt shall not count against the limit of three shots
- The device must remain largely intact after firing
- All devices must refrain from maiming or killing humans and animals
- All participants must wear safety goggles prior cocking of any device.
- If a pre-judgement of a design is requested from the Grand Marshall it may be expected that all confidence and privacy will be maintained from the other competitors, including the Grand Marshall.
